HOW TO REMOVE OR NEUTRALIZE CARPET ODORS

Welcome back guys, so today I have a very simple but effective strategy that you can implement in the home on a regular basis in order to maintain the cleanliness of your carpets and perhaps of more significance is the fact that this trick will show you how to remove or neutralize carpet odors. h

Household odors are a funny thing in that we can all get used to the smell of our own places and we may be oblivious to how bad our houses actually smell. Often the main culprit of these foul smells is your carpet. Carpets are incredibly absorbent and really soak up and retain the smells around them such as strong smelling foods you may cook like curries, cigarette smoke, dirt and oils that we carry on our shoes and feet, oils, sweat and odors that your dog carries if you own one, mold and mildew if you have that problem in your house and a host of other things.

Now ideally we would all just pay to have our carpets professionally cleaned every 3 months or so, but this can be expensive and unrealistic for the majority of people, but everybody can implement today’s trick which will show you how to remove or neutralize carpet odors, and all you will need is a vacuum cleaner and some baking soda.

Baking soda has a variety of effective uses in the household, and among these is the powders ability to effectively neutralize and absorb odours as opposed to just masking or covering up smells.

So what you want to do is first vacuum all your carpeted areas and then take very generous amounts of baking soda and sprinkle it all over the carpet in your house so that you create a layering of powder on top of the carpet.

My suggestion is that you use any type of sifter and fill them with baking soda and use them to evenly apply the baking soda onto the carpet. Depending on the amount of carpet that you have, you may have to refill the sifter several times.

Once you have spread a generous amount of baking soda onto the carpets then you want to leave the baking soda on the carpet for at least 2 hours. The longer it is left to work at neutralising and absorbing the carpet odors, the more effective this will be so my suggestion is that you actually apply the baking soda before going to bed and leave it on the carpet overnight and then the next day, just vacuum up all of the baking soda and your carpet will then smell far fresher and be much cleaner.

As this is strategy is both simple and cost effective, you can do this regularly in order to keep on top of build-up of uncleanliness and subsequent odours on the carpet.
