Hey guys, Dan Thomas from Image Doctor and Improvemant.com and watch the video above or read the article below as we discuss DOES APPEARANCE MATTER?

So does appearance matter? Or more specifically, do the clothes you wear matter? To me, this is a rhetorical question  no different to asking does 2 + 2 = 4? Do dogs like going for walks? Or do guys like sex?

There are many reasons dressing well is important which I will point out in a moment, but the main reason for today’s post is actually to direct you to the video clips I’ve included below this article.

The videos are all social experiments performed by other people who had the sole goal of answering today’s question of whether our appearance and the clothes we wear changes the way other people treat us and impacts the outcome of certain situations.

I’ve included all those video links and clips below this article, so if you want some real life proof and evidence that we all judge others based on how we look and dress, be sure to watch the videos below when you’ve finished with this post.

DOES APPEARANCE AND CLOTHING IMPACT SOCIAL AND PROFESSIONAL SUCCESS?

As for my professional opinion on why your appearance and clothing matters, here are 9 reasons why.

#1 – YOU HAVE BEEN JUDGED AND PIGEON HOLED IN JUST 3 SECONDS

As scary, unfair and even mean as it actually is, when you cross paths or formally meet another person the first time they will have sized you up, created opinions and made snap judgments of you in a mere 3 seconds.

What’s even scarier is that those people will have created those opinions and made those judgments subconsciously without even knowing they did so. Whilst you can’t control this alarming but true fact , you can control if those thoughts, opinions and judgments are positive or negative based on the efforts (or lack thereof) that you make with your clothing and personal grooming.

#2 – 93% OF COMMUNICATION IS NON VERBAL

Only 7% of communication is verbal, with the other 93% of communication made up of our body language, facial expressions and appearance. Given this point, plus the fact close to 90% of our bodies are covered by clothing, what you are wearing is sending an enormous amount of non verbal communication to those around you.

#3 – WE LIVE IN A SUPERFICIAL WORLD

We live in an unfairly and ever increasing superficial world where things such as jobs, houses, cars and appearances are judged no matter if this is right or wrong. In my opinion, this is a great example of “IF YOU CAN’T BEAT EM, JOIN EM!!”

If you want to be the proud, stubborn man who continues to wear the ill fitting suit, square toed shoes and sports shoes with jeans then do so at your own risk. And if you want to be the effortlessly stylish man who get’s the job, promotion, girl and self confidence you desire then visit Image Doctor.

#4 – SHARP CLOTHES BREED MORE WILLING PEOPLE

People can be more polite, kind and willing to help a well dressed person VS a poorly dressed person. I could explain why this is the case, but you can see real life proof of this in the videos I’ve included below this article.

#5 – STYLE SMOKE AND MIRRORS

Understanding the best colours, patterns, styles, cuts and fits of clothing can allow a person to make themselves appear taller, shorter, slimmer or broader. Whilst these visual adjustments are not magic bullets and come with limitations, they can make a huge difference to your personality.

#6 – EFFORT BREEDS DISCIPLINE, DISCIPLINE BREEDS SUCCESS

The daily habit of making a consistent effort with how you dress, groom and present yourself is a great form of discipline that can flow onto other areas of your life.

#7 – PRODUCTION

It’s been proven that those who dress well and make an effort with their presentation are more productive in the work place. When you dress well you feel better, and when your mood and mindset are in a positive state, your ability to produce stronger results will also increase.

#8 – CONFIDENCE

There is no human being on planet earth that would refuse the chance to increase their confidence (including already supremely confident people) Dressing and grooming yourself very well is one of many effective ways to give your personal confidence and ability to succeed both professionally and socially a huge boost.

#9 – SEXINESS (ATTRACTION)

It’s an undeniable fact that women find men who understand how to dress well as being very sexy and attractive. Of all the 9 points I have stated as to why your appearance ABSOLUTELY matters, this point is the most factual and if you would like some evidence as to this point being true then simply start dressing better and you will find out for yourself!!
